Why is she getting public funding for her new album? Isn't she getting support from her label any more?

News & Interviews / Re: David Bowie tribute shows in New York City

Not seen this yet... But David Byrne? Anna had enough exposure without having to dig that corpse up. Does anyone else think of the the film Rain Man when they see those two together. Seriously, it's like he's won a competition to be on that stage. I can sing better than that.

Hue is a cool city! Well worth a trip :)

I shall see what I can find, though professor Google might throw up some stuff. I think they just released New York, though there was also a demos album... All my music vanished when my computer died about 2 years ago and I haven't got round to replacing it whoops...

Great website! Looks really cool

Possible additions:

Heart of nowhere with Noah and the whale in guest appearances
Johnny flyn one about millionaire or heiress or something like that. Too early to look up... Call myself a fan etc :)

Edit: prizefighter and the heiress possibly! Hopefully everyone here will chip in with other songs they can think of. Chepa hotel perhaps?

Are we suppose to believe this has anything to do with YouTube? They are only doing what they do when someone files a copyright claim. This is all down to domino not wanting fan videos on YouTube. Why are we being spun some bollocks? Domino need to lay clear their policy rather than trying to fob us off with a load of old shit

Careful guys. Domino will surely shut this site down if we discuss Anna's music publicly. Their myopia continues to astound me.

Do they genuinely have a problem with fan led promotion? Are we muscling in on their turf? I'm wondering what we can proactively do to at least get a response from them. Any ideas?

She's my age now. Poor thing. Happy birthday!

That's total bullshit. Domino don't even own the copyright... Anna does for the music and words. Would Anna object to her fans posting clips of gigs? I think Anna would be happy. I can understand copying of her albums and TV appearances where she would stand to lose money, but this is totally different.

Anna's promotion and social media is entirely fan driven, and banning what is essentially fans sharing their experiences is total bullshit. People share and get into Anna this way... they buy albums and attend gigs. I bet loads of people on here have attended extra gigs because of the sense of community from sites like this and sharing clips of gigs. I know I have.

This is heavy handed and incredibly naive and not to mention short sighted of domino. What total cockwombles... We aren't talking piracy we are talking about them pissing off their fans and main source of free promotion. They are lucky they have fans running chat rooms and hosting blogs, because we get fuck-all encouragement. Anna deserves better quite frankly (though some more of her excellent q and a's on tumblr wouldn't go amiss)

Aaaaaand relax. I hope they see sense and give you your account back.

Performances / Classic gigs

Are there any Anna gigs that you've been to that you think will pass down into Calvi folklore, for good or bad? Which ones will be spoken of in revered hush in a generation down the line "daddy cricket, you mean you were there?"

Well, each one I've been to feels like an event... Pissing rain at Somerset House, new album preview at Wilton's, Dan's last show, troxy followed by solo show, two gigs with choir and orchestra... Any better than that? I wish I'd seen some earlier ones, and I'm lead to believe some were better music-wise (Troxy show was the finest musically I've seen). I'd love to hear your thoughts!

I'll see what I can do. I have zero talent however.

Performances / Support acts

Gwilym Gold at the southbank gig got me thinking... What's the worst support act Anna has ever had? I can only remember Anna Meredith and Bill Ryder-Jones as being ant good... I Have a Tribe was surely number 1 until that atrocity last night. Any others?

Sounds like a plan! Be good to meet up with everyone again

Got myself a ticket for this, first show of the year! Is it just Anna and the choir? Should be a good one. And with numbered seats, there's less pressure on queueing and more chance of a drink!

Yeah I'm worried it'll just be david Byrne... The man simply makes a racket. Hopefully not Noah and the whale either... Maybe I'm biased but Anna is several factors better than the artists she collaborates with. Marianne faithful would be the best of the lot. I really like bill Ryder Jones, and maybe Rob Ellis? But otherwise I'm more excited about Anna with the choir and orchestra. After seeing her stripped down show in the shop, it will be a great contrast
