Ughhh I am so annoyed. I've had my personal youtube account for like 5 + years so it has all my stuff on it.

I just logged in now and noticed it had been suspended, because I had a couple of shitty quality videos that I filmed of Anna performing at Laneway in 2012 on it. They weren't even the full songs, but for some reason today Domino decided to go and file copyright claims against them all. They barely had any views too. And on Anna's Birthday... who would do such a thing smh!?

This has just left a really sour taste in my mouth. I'm really pissed off about losing my other videos on there. I don't even want to think about the thousands of dollars I've spent supporting one of their artists and all the time and effort it has taken to run my blog/this forum. I feel like deleting it now.

Thanks Domino ::)

News & Interviews / Anna Calvi featured on the 'Insurgent' soundtrack
« on: February 26, 2015, 07:54:20 PM »
Anna is appearing on a song on the soundtrack for the upcoming 'Insurgent' movie (sequel to 'Divergent').

The song is called 'The Heart of You' and is written by Andrew Wyatt.

No release date for the soundtrack has been released yet. The movie is released on March 20th.

The first movie was released on pretty much the same date last year, but the soundtrack was available for streaming in the first week of March, so I don't think you will have to see the movie in order to hear the song. But there is a screening here on the 18th, and I am kind of considering going just to hear an Anna song in a cinema setting?

I don't know, the first movie was pretty watchable if you like those sort of dystopia blockbuster films, but I don't remember if I even finished watching it because I saw it on a plane last year.

Also the soundtrack will hopefully get a vinyl release, because the first one did:

News & Interviews / Anna Calvi - East Village Radio Interview (May 2012).

I uploaded this for Louise, but thought it deserved its own thread as it's definitely Anna's best interview ever:

General Discussions / Buy/Sell/Trade thread
« on: January 09, 2015, 06:43:36 AM »
Thought I would start a thread if people want to buy/sell/trade Anna records or merchandise, because other fans might be more likely to have what you are after.

Anyway, I am looking for:

1. Cheap Hotel - New York 7":

2. Anna Calvi - Handmade EP (the fact that I don't own this haunts me to this day):

3. Anna Calvi - Instrumentals CD (or a FLAC rip of it):

4. Painted matchbox (obviously)...

Will pay a really good price for any of this!

Music Videos / Favourite Anna music video?

Decided not to include Rider to the Sea, because it didn't have an official release.

Feel free to explain why you chose your favourite!

Hey everyone, we are aware that the forum is not the most user friendly at the moment, because we made it quite quickly earlier in the year.

I think we will be upgrading to a better sever soon first of all. And then possibly a redesign.

But does anyone have any suggestions about what they would like to see us implement?

News & Interviews / Special December show
« on: September 15, 2014, 08:02:29 PM »
I'm planning a very special London show in December.. More news soon! xA

So, lets speculate. I think she will debut a new song, like Somerset House (someone record this for me or I will kms).

Or it could be a show with an orchestra finally (in that case someone record the whole thing or I will kms).

What do you think?

General Discussions / Piece by Piece conspiracy
« on: March 31, 2014, 07:06:22 PM »
So Domino Records said Piece by Piece is not being released on vinyl, which is really weird (and also sad because only 2 singles from the new album released on vinyl kind of sucks)…

But that’s also an opportunity for a B-side that could have been released gone, which now means songs that have been announced and haven’t been released are:

 • Ghost Rider
 • Strange Weather (with David Byrne)
 • Untitled song (with Marianne Faithfull)
 • Untitled song (with Rob Ellis, Terry Edwards and Kate St. John)
 • + possibly more recordings from New York…?

I wonder what the reason is that all this new music has been announced then never released. Does anyone have any ideas? Maybe an EP is going to be released or something, because why else would they announce and then not release these songs…

One Breath / The Bridge
« on: March 30, 2014, 07:02:07 PM »
I was thinking about how The Bridge has been very much directly inspired by opening of this...

Has anyone figured out any of the lyrics yet?

Photography & Fashion / Face of GAP?
« on: January 16, 2014, 07:28:04 AM »
The guy who tweeted it works for the Gap, so I guess there is no reason to think this wouldn't be true, because it's just so random thing to make up otherwise.

Omg I am so excited for Anna. This is like the biggest thing ever ahh. Get that paycheck.

Technical / Anna's Gear
« on: January 06, 2014, 07:56:13 PM »
All credit belongs to Christy and Sandra for identifying these:

Guitars (2013 tour):
American Standard Telecaster ‘97 (?) – “It’s not from a particularly cool year, but it’s a great guitar.” What interview was this from? I vaguely recall her saying something like that, and in that interview she also says what year it’s from.
Gretsch Baritone Jet (G5265)
Classic Series ’72 Tele Custom (with what looks to be a tinted gloss on the neck, more so than the website model)
Other guitars that have had the privilege of being touched by her skilful hands :P
In Cheap Hotel:
Some sort of Stratocaster – Possibly MIM? It also looks like someone has put in a custom bridge pickup.
Gibson 50th Anniversary 1960 Les Paul Custom

Used for Wolf Like Me during first tour:
Standard Tele in Butterscotch with flame maple neck? I don't know the specific model...
Telecaster Thinline 2012

Live at Somerset House, 12th July 2012:
Jaguar HH Blacktop

Unidentified Telecaster in 2010

In the Cherry Brakewells:
Schechter Blackjack ATX C-1 in white (I don’t think it’s this exact model, but it’s quite similar. This seems like such a strange choice for Anna to make that I’m led to believe that she probably just borrowed it).

Live performance of Heart of Nowhere, with Noah and the Whale:
Classic Series ’72 Tele deluxe in black (I think it’s a slightly different/older model, because the current one on Fender's website has a different headstock).

Mally’s guitar for I’ll Be Your Man:
American Standard Telecaster in sunburst (a newer model than Anna’s, which luckily hasn’t been abused quite as much).
Pedalboard (2013 tour):

Crowther Audio Hotcake Overdrive (made in New Zealand - we finally did something good for music)
T-Rex Roommate Reverb
Electro-Harmonix Holy Grail Plus
Boss Chromatic tuner
Mesa Boogie Tone Burst

Gigman pedalboard

Pick: Dunlop Jazz III sharp (red).
Does anyone know the model of the cream Telecaster that was sighted during the recording of One Breath at Black Box studios?

Performances / Love Of My Life (Live)... Finally!

I think this is my favourite live performance ever omg. It's just so fucking awesome!

Anna's Favourite Things / Anna's Objectophilia
« on: December 11, 2013, 09:51:58 AM »
I saw this old black and white footage of a bridge violently swaying due to high winds, until it buckled and fell to pieces. It had a really strong affect on me. Firstly the swaying seemed very sensual, ( which sounds weird I know) but it was also devastating, seeing this body fall away to nothing. It was just very poetic and I was compelled to write a song about it.

Bleed into Me is about falling in love with a river, instead of a human- which I find very romantic- the idea of being consumed and carried away, of having absolute trust in a force which is so much bigger than you, and could kill you.

News & Interviews / Anna will release a cover of Suicide's 'Ghost Rider'
« on: November 26, 2013, 02:53:46 PM »

This should make for an interesting cover.

Hugo and I thought Matt should be her drummer, so this is a weird coincidence.
