Anna's Favourite Things / Playlists
« on: August 16, 2018, 06:19:50 AM »
Did anyone save the songs on the playlist Anna made for Spotify - Rock Rotation? I looked at the playlist and it has changed ...

yes, disappointing, but to be expected for me.

Her homepage is titled "Alexis Taylor", maybe Domino used the same html code from Alexis Taylor's page?

I feel like it will be a single because of that engineer who leaked that the album is supposed to be released in August, which means there is not much time before the full album comes out. If it were an album release date announcement, then there might not be any singles released (at least not with B-sides?) since there would only be a few short weeks before the album came out. Unless of course, they pushed back the release date. After all, we have waited years, so mere months are nothing...

It could also be both though.

As someone commented on Anna's post, this photo is of @raindovemodel on insta:

Not sure who originally took the photo but this one is of Grace Jones

Maybe this is why this album has taken so long

News & Interviews / Re: Third album set to be released in August

Seems like it was supposed to be a secret, since they've since changed the sentence to "Bernie also Mastered another wild album for me recently by Anna Calvi, that comes out later this year."

Anna meeting Jehnny Beth in LA last autumn. She was probably there to mix and arrange her album. As she posted recently: she's very close ;).

Also this pic:
"If shit goes down the plan is to fuck off somewhere and have each other’s babies @annacalvi"

But I'm not sure if they were working together on the album, maybe they are just good friends.

So Nick Launay is producing the new Anna Calvi album.

shutashinoda - Beautiful Anna Calvi's vocal in Mally's production. Two tracks are done :-)

Is that a chair in the bottom left corner, or is that Mally's leg?

Downloaded using VideoDownloadHelper on Firefox.  :-*

I also like this interview where she talks about her Ocean Drama by Charles Vickery painting and her love for the Dorset coast (again).

English Translation (by google translate):
The British singer will visit the Festival of Paimpol Friday night. She is very attached to the French public, the first to have enjoyed her music.

What place does the sea have in your music?

Even if the sea is not present in most of my songs, I composed a guitar piece called "Rider to the Sea," which was inspired by a painting of the sea possessed my grandfather. The sea is a powerful force that can become a source of inspiration and creativity. I like the sound of flags that flutter in the wind on ships, it is impossible to describe but it's very moving.

Why the Sea Shanty Festival in Paimpol?
I find the idea of a festival centered on the sea very romantic. I am very happy to be part of. It's always nice to have a beautiful environment when you're on stage. It changes festivals where it's just on a stage in a field. Playing in a port really give another dimension to the concert and I look forward to it.

Have you ever came to Brittany?
Yes I went to Dinan and Quiberon, it was really beautiful. It made me think of the Dorset coast in the southwest of England which is quiet and the beaches are really beautiful. I do not know Paimpol at all and look forward to come here and find out. I try to visit as much as possible before and after my concert.

What would you like to convey to your audience during your concerts?
I want to give people the opportunity to escape, even if it is only for a moment, to forget themselves and what is happening in their life. I hope to make them feel passion for music through the strength that I release in my performance. The French public has always been very kind to me throughout my career. France is the first place that really understood what I was doing and the direction of my music. I did concerts throughout France, it is one of my favorite places to play.

I listened to his new album PPMP once after Anna recommended it, but I don't particularly like nor dislike it... Although I think it's interesting that he is a lot more popular in the UK than he is in the US.

I also prefer Perfume Genius' album/style, at least right now  :P
