Anna at London Southbank Meltdown August 2015
« on: April 28, 2015, 07:00:15 PM »
Just announced via their website  http://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/whatson/festivals-series/david-byrnes-meltdown-line-up for August 22nd at the Queen Elizabeth Hall.

ETA wow Anna's Facebook + her site have actually also got this announced, and they say Anna + choir as special commission.

I was so excited when I saw this announced but soon realised it clashed with Green Man festival. Damn!

This looks good, just Anna and a 12 piece (person) choir.
I think I will go to this. Cheaper than going to Edinburgh  :)
Only slight problem, tickets come on sale 10 a.m. on 8 May, this is exactly the time I was setting off for Brighton.  I will have to go a bit later .

Now I feel I should apologise for being the bearer of bad news.

Still, look on the bright side, young chap: you probably have your ticket already, and we may not get ours. ...

Wonder if it's the all-female choir or if she's bringing male voices in. You know, for that bass frequency.

Thanks wild_corgi! :) I'd seen it on the SBC mailing list as well. I am also disappointed to not be able to make Benjamin Clementine's set for he is brilliant and also clashes with Green Man but the amazing line-up at the festival makes up for it! :)

^ well I quite fancy Estrella Morente (so to speak) and the Gamelan thingy, so I could be OK too. Plus highly unlikely to rain inside the South Bank, unlike at Green Man.  So - group hug?

I need to check out David Longstreth as the support at his gig is GABI and I've been loving her recently released album.

I shall be well prepared for whatever the weather at Green Man! :)

I wonder if Anna will have her guitar, or will this be a purely choral concert  ?

You know, Anna is not really a big fan of bass  :P?

Michael, I was just wondering the same, but I suppose she will have her guitar.

No need to be sorry, all is well, there's no failure. Let's just laugh about it all  :).

Got myself a ticket for this, first show of the year! Is it just Anna and the choir? Should be a good one. And with numbered seats, there's less pressure on queueing and more chance of a drink!

it'll be good to see you there. I can't quite work out where my seat is supposed to be, but I am sure all will become clear on the day.
One good thing about the QEH, even if you get the seat wrong you don't have to bring binoculars.
