A suitable drummer: the forum-judged auditions
« on: November 25, 2013, 06:43:22 AM »
If you could choose a different drummer to replace Dan, who would it be?

The new guy (Alex) is fine, and it's harsh to judge him when he's still learning the feel of the songs, but I feel like Anna could find someone a bit more suitable/passionate for her style. But that's just an opinion, he's a very good player I suppose.

I'd poach Silas from Mew, awkward facials and all. The drumming towards the middle of this clip reminds of the bold style used for Suzanne & I.

Oooh he has a really good style! I could see that fitting in well.

I say she needs a girl drummer 8) Florrie should leave her pop career and return to her roots as she was originally Xenomania/Girls Aloud's drummer.

But in all seriousness, I like Fay Milton's style.

Haha I was just going to add that Fay Milton would be an excellent choice. I read a really interesting interview about how she developed her style, and it involved being a percussionist in an orchestra at university if I remember correctly. So she'd have a lot in common with Anna already - both technically trained in theory as well as being a very passionate player.

Isn't Jeff Buckley's former drummer Matt Johnson working with her? He's pretty solid. Check out their version of Kangaroo - all 14 minutes of it.

I'm easily wrong, but isn't Matt Johnson the drummer on Anna's cover of Ghost Rider?
